E-commerce website for a unique and ethical cheese business in East Takaka, New Zealand.
Kervella Cheese make cheese on their property in East Takaka, New Zealand. Sourcing cow milk from the neighbours’ farm that uses sustainable organic methods, they use their own unique wild cultures to produce a delicious range of traditional and seasonal cheese for the modern gut.
Gabrielle and Alan – the master cheesemakers, and owners of Kervella Cheese – are a wonderfully quirky couple who I had the pleasure of getting to know during my time living in Takaka. Their tiny fromagerie is watched over by the great marble mountain Pikikirunga range and this is where the rich and intricate flavours of their handcrafted, and original, recipes are born and matured. Each of their processes is well thought out and it is evident when you try the cheese. Alan is extremely intelligent and meticulous, he built the fromagerie from scratch, with just 20% vision left in one eye from an acid accident many years ago.
It was really important for me to get this inspiring couples character captured in the website design along with an effective customer experience for selling their cheese. The look and feel needed to be simple, bold, and easy to navigate but it also needed to have a creative flare that added character and unique personality.
