Alternative Type Specimen

This is a conceptual ongoing project that pushes the boundaries of a type specimen. Each chair has been modified to represent a specific typeface. We created a set of posters with screen-printed typeface details on the front and back.

Archetype Renner – Extra legs welded on for the accentuated descenders.

Futura Black – Middle sawn and removed to create a stencil-like form.

Beo Sans – Body scrambled with a blow torch, representing the random edges that the printer creates.

Bell Centennial – Counter shape removed with dipped corners to represent the font’s advanced legibility under adverse printing conditions.
